Morning,
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (27/5) is expected to be in the range of 4,590pt – 4,750pt by support of positive regional mood. The JCI is expected to response on news that capital city Jakarta might decide to end to current limited-lockdown that had started close to three months ago (PSSB) on June 4. . As the city implemented a limited lock-down much earlier compared to the other regions in Indonesia, the trend of daily new cases has shown a much flatter slope if contrasted to other regions. For example, yesterday (26/5), daily new cases in Jakarta amounted to 61 patients or representing 14.7% of total Indonesia (vs. April 1 of 50%). As of yesterday, Jakarta contributed of 28.9% of total accumulated confirmed Covid 19 cases vs. 48.7% on April 1 (please visit site Corona Jakarta for data detail). Depending on the development of both Jakarta and other regions in Indonesia in the next week, an end to PSSB in the capital city may not be ruled out.
Meanwhile in Wall Street yesterday (26/5) the DJIA ended higher at 24,995pt or by 530 points or 2.2% to 24,995pt while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed higher by 1.2% and 0.2%, respectively. Investors had a general positive moods as Covid-19 vaccines is positively progressing.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed higher by 3.3% at USD34.4/barrel on prospect of more re-opening economies , and the USDIDR closed higher at IDR14.774 vs. IDR14.785 the previous one.
