The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (9/8) is expected to trade between 6,070pt – 6,200pt to stick around also by support of bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (9/7) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 269pt or 0.8% to 35,100pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.3%, and higher by 0.07%, respectively. The US job data and the Fedโs Beige Book release, as well as development of ย COVID-19 new variant emergence, ย are currently the tools in monitor to foresee schedule for tapering.
The JCI today is expected to also be supported by stable appreciating USDIDR as well as improving COVID-19 profile in the capital Jakarta city with the latest positivity rates at 2% (9/6), the rate of within its all time low of 1.9% (9/5). However, higher yield differential (+5bp) as of closing time yesterday between the 10-year US government bonds and the Indonesia counterpart may haunt traders.
At the other end, ย yesterday the WTI price closed lower by 1.4% to ย ย USD68.4barrel , mainly supported by encouraging China oil import data for August at +8% MoM and still supply outage from the Gulf of Mexico. This mitigated further slip on the price as Saudi Arabia yesterday did a price cut for its Asia contracts.ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,195 vs. IDR14,261 the previous one.
