The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (3/1) is expected to be in the range of 6,150pt โ 6,300pt with selling pressures be absorped by bargain hunters. Meanwhile, Friday last week in Wall Street (2/26), ย ย ย the DJIA closed lower ย by 470 points or by 1.5% to 30,932pt, while S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.5% and higher by 0.6%, respectively.
In the news is polemic against the current Indonesian government to release investments for alcoholic beverages from the previously prohibited investments list. In view of another yet untangled policies from the Education Ministry on how to improve the Indonesia human capital (generation Z of 28% and Millenial of 31%), the objective of the release seems unrealistic, we reckon. In addition with the low base income per capita, the decision to allow the alcoholic beverages investment may back-fire and may stain the quality of the countryโs demographic bonus, we note.
At the other end, Friday last week (2/26) ย the WTI price closed lower by ย 3.2% to USD61.5/barrel as compared ย to the previous close, mainly on the strenghtening of the USD index following the selling pressures in the US bond market.ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closedย at IDR14,229 ย vs. IDR14,104 the previous one.
