The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (6/22) is expected to be in the range of 5,925pt โ 6,100pt ย ย to stick around and be supported by bargain hunters.ย Meanwhile, yesterday ย (6/21), the DJIA closed higher by ย 587 points or 1.8% to 33,290pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq ย ended higher by 1.4% and 0.8%, respectively.
The JCI bounced off its intra-day low yesterday was believed on the government policy to face current spike on the new cases of COVID-19. The central government implements tighter measures on current PSBB (Pembatasan Social Berskala Besar or large scale social restriction) limited instead of a complete lock-down as feared by most stakeholders in the domestic financial market. Positivity Rate (PR) in the Jakarta capital city reached record high of 33.6 on June 19, while health facilities capacity is reported to reach higher than 75% utilization rate at present. The latest reading on the PR in the capital city is at 32.5% (6/20). Historial 7-day average of PR in Jakarta ranges from12%-18% during the worse period and from 8%-11% during the best period.
At the other end, yesterdayย ย the WTI price closed higher by 2.8% to USD73.7/barrel , mainly on supply concern as talk between the US and Iran on the nuclear project is in pause, which imply no additional output. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,453 vs. IDR14,403 the previous one.
