The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (8/26) is expected to trade between 6,040pt – 6,200pt likely to be volatile while being supported by bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/25) ย Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 39 points or 0.1% to 35,406pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed higher by 0.2%. General optimism in the US equity market yesterday has also been reflected in the increase of the 10-year ย US governbonds that hit 1.352% or within its month-high of 1.364%.
The JCI today is expected to be supported by stable commodities price, such coal and oil. However, short-term liquidity may be impacted by clues from the US central bank on the likely tapering schedule during the Jackson Hole virtual symposium that starts today.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed higher by 1.2% to USD68.4/barrel , also on the the data of four-week average for US total product supplied, a proxy for fuel demand, soared to nearly 21mn bpd, its highest since March 2020, the official start of COVID-19 restrictions. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,408 ย vs. IDR14,391 the previous one.
