Indonesia: External Debt May 2023
Indonesia: Total External Debt
Outstanding Balance May: USD398.3 billion
Indonesia’s May external debt is recorded at USD 398.3bn as of May this year and has continued declining since January in the amount of USD404.97bn. The trend looks stabilized (in Chart 1) since the peak of 2020. Since January, major components of the external debt, government and private, posted a thin but consistent decline. This trait becomes more visible, especially for the private component, in comparison with 2021 (in Chart 2).
