ย The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (3/31) is expected to trade between 7,000pt โ€“ 7,100ptย  to hold ground and supported by bargain hunters.ย  The JCI today is expected also to be supported by improving COVID-19 new cases rate in capital Jakarta city, at a stable and improving trend at 5.1%, the latest positivity rate data (year-to-date high:ย  26%, year-to-date low: 1.0%).ย Effective today, value added tax is increased to 11% from previously 10%, for general consumers goods and services.

Wall Street yesterday (3/31) ended with the DJIA closed lower by 551pt or 1.6% to 34,678pt, ย while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq Compositeย  closed lower by 1.6% and byย  1.5%, respectively.

 

At the other end, the yield on the benchmarkย 10-year Treasury note continued to decline, yesterday byย almost 3bp (basis point) to close at 2.33%, indicating investorsโ€™ position of aggressive Federal Reserve cuts. Yields move inversely to prices and 1 basis point is equal to 0.01%.

 

Yesterday ย the WTIย  price closed lower by 7.0% to USD100.3/barrel against the previous close, mainly on prospect of supply expansion as the US through the White House announced that it will release a record-high rate of 1mn barrels/ day of oil for the next six months from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to ease current oil and gas prices. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,357 ย vs. IDR14,349 ย the previous one.
