The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (4/19) is expected to be in the range of 6,025pt โ 6,200pt, ย to incline higher although limitedly, ย also by support of ย bargain hunters. ย Meanwhile, Friday last week (4/16), the DJIA closed higher by ย 165 points or 0.5% to 34,201pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq ended higher by 0.4% and 0.1%, respectively. ย ย Earnings season in the US that started last week showed results that ย beat consensus-estimate, while latest ย economic data release also pointed close to double-digit growths.
However, despite attainment of record-high in the US stock market, the benchmark 10-year US bonds yield was off its peak of 1.7% to drop to 1.56% and slightly rebounded to 1.57% in the last record. This implies stakeholders may reserve the possibility for the US central bank to reverse monetary course much earlier than expected, we reckon.
Meanwhile, Indonesia central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) starts it monthly meeting today , with the consensus widely expect that BI would maintain current benchmark rate at 3.5%, mainly on the account of stable USDIDR, soft domestic ย banksโ credit growth (January 2021:-1.9% YoY, 2020:-2.4% YoY, 2019: 6.1% YoY), also to maintain domestic investors base.
At the other end, last week the WTI price ended lower ย by ย 0.5% to USD63.1/barrel , mainly by support of the ย upward revisions to oil demand growth forecasts for this year both by the EIA and ย OPEC.Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closedย at IDR14,592 vs. IDR14,646 the previous one.
