The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (8/5) is expected to trade between 5,990pt – 6,200pt likely to retreat be supported by bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/4) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 324 points or 0.9% to 34,793pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq ย closed lower by 0.5% and higher by 0.13%, ย respectively. Wall Street started to doubt if the US economic recovery rate this year can be maintained. The US ADP private payroll survey data release yesterday showed a gain of 330k jobs in July vs. consensus estimate 653k units.
Central statistics office today is expected to release Indonesia ย 2Q21 GDP figure with the widely-estimated numbers at 5% YoY -7%YoY (1Q21:-0.74% YoY, 2020: -2.07% YoY). The release is expected to support the JCI.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed lower by 3.4% to USD68.2/barrel , mainly on demand worries along with the expanding spread of Delta variant virus, but allegation of Iran backed support provided buttress. Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,324 ย vs. IDR14,362 ย the previous one.
