The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (2/18) is expected to trade between 6,780pt – 6,870pt ย to fluctuate ย and ย supported by bargain hunters. The JCI is expected to have meaningful support from the latest data (2/16) of new COVID-19 cases in Jakarta city, of 14.7% ย positivity rate (PR). The last 7-day records of PR in the city is the range 17.6% – 25.4%, while historical-low is at 0.2%-0.4%,ย  and historical-high is at 46.4%.

 

Meanwhile, Wall Street yesterday (2/17)ย  ended with the DJIA closed lower by 622pt, or 1.8% to 34,312pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq Composite both closed lower by 2.1% and ย 2.9%, respectively. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note closed lower at a steep 8bp to 1.96%. The holdings in the United States (US) equity market fled to less-risky assets as news broke yesterday that pro-Russia rebels attacked a village near the Ukraine border.

 

Yesterday ย the WTI ย price closed lower by 1.5% to USD91.8/barrel, mostly on news of potential additional supply from Iran along with the almost-final deal with the US on the Iranian nuclear project. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,301 vs. IDR14,278 the previous one.
