The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/22) is expected to be in the range of 6,000pt โ 6,100pt ย ย likely gain edge ย and be supported by bargain hunters. ย Meanwhile, yesterday (7/21) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 286 points or 1.6% to 34,798pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed higher by 0.8% and 0.9%, respectively. ย At present about 15% of the S&P 500 has reported earnings, with 88% beating earnings estimates, according to Refinitiv. Furthermore, of the companies that have reported 84% have topped revenue expectations.
Today the central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) is scheduled to complete Julyโs board-of-governors meeting and announce the latest stance of the countryโs monetary policy.ย The BI7d-RRR is widely expected to be kept unchanged, at 3.5%. In a bid to spurr growth, ย since March 2020, BI has cut the reference rates by 100bp, which has been enabled also, by at a least, a decade history of stable financial infrastructure in the country.
At the other end, yesterdayย ย the WTI price closed higher by 4.6% to USD70.3/barrel, still on technical reverse following a major sell-off Monday (7/19). Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,554 vs. IDR14,524 the previous one.
