The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/22) is expected to trade between 6,820pt โ€“ 6,960pt ย to attempt higher and supported by bargain hunters. ย The JCI today is expected to buttress immediate volatility of the USDIDR.

 

Yesterday (7/21), Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 162 points or 0.5% to 32,037pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq ย closed higher by 1.0% and 1.4%, respectively. The USโ€™s Initial claims, totaled 251,000 for the week ended July 16, up 7,000 from the week before and above the 240,000 Dow Jones estimate, helped trigger purchase.

 

At the other end, the yield of the US 10-year Treasury note dropped ย by 14bp to 2.89%. The inversion between the 2-year and 10-year notes remained yesterday, although narrowing, with the yield of the 2-year US Treasury notes last seen at 3.09%.

 

Yesterday, ย the WTI price closed lower by 3.5% to ย USD96.4/barrel, mainly on higher U.S. gasoline stockpiles that led to higher worries on demand side.ย  Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,992 vs. IDR15,017 ย the previous one.
