Morning,
ย The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/6) is expected to trade between 6,630pt โ 6,780pt ย to hold ground and supported by bargain hunters. The JCI is expected to hold selling pressures mainly on 1) short-term volatility on the current USDIDR rates, and 2) the increase ย COVID-19 restriction in capital city Jakarta ย to โPPKM Level 2โ (from previously Level 1) which means more limitation on people activities.
Yesterday (7/5), Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 129 points or 0.4% to 30,968pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed higher by 1.8%.ย Yesterday midday the 2-year Treasury yield was at 2.792%, or higher than the yield 10-year Treasury of 2.789%. This was taken as confirmation of the US economic recession which assumed lower interest rates.ย The US GDP growth in the 1Q22 is -1.6% YoY, and 2Q22 advanced estimate data will be published on July 28.
Yesterday, ย the WTIย price closed lower by 8.2% to ย USD99.5/barrel, mainly on fear of recession both in the US and worldwide . Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,990 ย vs. IDR14,960 the previous one.
Cheers,
