The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (5/28) is expected to be in the range of 5,785pt โ€“ 5,900pt, likely to retreat and be supported by bargain hunters. ย Meanwhile, yesterday ย (5/27), the DJIA closed higher by ย 142 points or 0.4% to 34,465pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both ended higher by 0.1% and lower by ย 0.01%, respectively. ย Better-than-expected US macro data had also caused shift of funds from the bonds market as indiciated by higher yield of 10-year US sovereign bonds to 1.615%, or an increase of 5bp yesterday (Indonesia: 0bp).

 

Stakeholders in the domestic financial market is expected to view positively the latest central bank Bank Indonesia ย survey on the countryโ€™s residential property sector that indicates,ย  also taking account year-end seasonal factor,ย  meaningful increased activities.ย  During the 1Q21, the sale of residential property increased by 14.0% YoY as compared ย to a contraction of 20.6% YoY in the 4Q20. Meanwhile, the price index increase in the 1Q21 (+1.35% YoY) almost unchanged as compared to ย the previous quarter’sย  of 1.43% YoY.

 

At the other end, ย yesterday ย ย the WTI price ended higher by ย 0.5% to USD66.6/barrel , mainly on the better-than-expected US latest initial jobless claims. Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,312 vs. IDR14,335 the previous one.
