The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (11/16) is expected to trade between 6,575pt – 6,660pt to ย attempt higher ย also on the back of ย bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (11/15) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 13pt ย or 0.04% to 36,088pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both ย ย closed lower by 0.0% and by 0.04%, respectively.
The JCI is expected to have domestic supports while higher yield differential as of yesterdayโs close may somehow drag the equity index. ย In the local news is about minimum wages formulation for the year 2022 for the capital city Jakarta and other 33 provinces in Indonesia.ย Since 2016, annual rate increase of ย wages is set by the formula of GDP growth and inflation rate for each regions. On a new regulation this year, the formula is changed somehow into a more detailed computations (PP 36/2021). ย Calculations aside, ย all on-site personal quires for wages , in Jakarta capital city most recently, indicated that wages are about 50% off the minimum of IDR4.3mn this year. This only confirms the imbalance of demand of supply of labors both in quantity and quality aspect. From investment perspective, the country may eventually still qualify for cheap-labor site categories.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price ย closed higher by 0.1% ย to ย USD80.9/barrel , upside was mainly restrained on worries of the surging COVID-19 cases. ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,206 vs. IDR14,243 the previous one.
