The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (11/17) is expected to trade between 6,950ptโ€“ 7,080pt to attempt higher supported by bargain hunters.

 

The JCI today is expected to respond to the latest statement from Indonesiaโ€™s central bank concerning the countryโ€™s economy and its monetary stance, scheduled to be released this afternoon.

Most economists in the survey conducted by CNBCย  Indonesia call for a 50 basis points increase of the policy BI7DRR to 5.25%, while the rest estimate a 25 bp increase.

Meanwhile, yesterday ย (11/16) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by ย 39 ย points or 0.1% to 33,554pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower ย by 0.8% and 1.5%, respectively. The US retail spending data for October rose to 1.3% slightly above the Dow Jones estimate of 1.2%. Excluding autos, the number was a gain of 1.3% vs. an estimate of 0.6%.

The 10-year US Treasury yield, yesterday fell by 8 basis points at 3.716%, and the yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasuryย was flat at 4.374%.

Yesterday, the price of ย WTI crude fell by 1.5%, to USD85.6 a barrel, mainly on supply flows along with the news that Russian oil shipments via the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary restarted. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed atย  IDR15,610 vs. IDR15,564 ย the previous one.
