The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (11/17) is expected to trade between 6,950ptโ 7,080pt to attempt higher supported by bargain hunters.
The JCI today is expected to respond to the latest statement from Indonesiaโs central bank concerning the countryโs economy and its monetary stance, scheduled to be released this afternoon.
Most economists in the survey conducted by CNBCย Indonesia call for a 50 basis points increase of the policy BI7DRR to 5.25%, while the rest estimate a 25 bp increase.
Meanwhile, yesterday ย (11/16) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by ย 39 ย points or 0.1% to 33,554pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower ย by 0.8% and 1.5%, respectively. The US retail spending data for October rose to 1.3% slightly above the Dow Jones estimate of 1.2%. Excluding autos, the number was a gain of 1.3% vs. an estimate of 0.6%.
The 10-year US Treasury yield, yesterday fell by 8 basis points at 3.716%, and the yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasuryย was flat at 4.374%.
Yesterday, the price of ย WTI crude fell by 1.5%, to USD85.6 a barrel, mainly on supply flows along with the news that Russian oil shipments via the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary restarted. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed atย IDR15,610 vs. IDR15,564 ย the previous one.
