Morning,

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (10/20) is expected to trade between 6,785pt โ€“ 6,910pt to attempt higher with the support of bargain hunters.

The JCI is expected to respond to Indonesiaโ€™s central bank Bank Indonesia (BI)โ€™s latest monetary stance which is scheduled to be announced this afternoon. More than half of the economists polled on CNBC Indonesia have predicted a 50-basis point increase in the policy rate BI7DRR, currently at 4.25%, ย to adjust to the latest macroeconomic development. The rest have estimated a 25-basis point increase as necessary to accommodate for internal and external dynamics.ย

Meanwhile, yesterday ย (10/19) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 100 points or 0.3% to 30,424pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.7% and 0.9%, respectively.

The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, climbed ย 14 basis points at 4.127%. The yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasuryย rose by 11 basis points to 4.55%.

Yesterday, the price of ย WTI futures crude settled higher by 3.3%, at USD85.6/barrel, mainly because tightening supply countered the negative impact of uncertain demand, along with the news that the United States will release more crude oil from its reserves. Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed atย  IDR15,491 vs. IDR15,480 the previous one.

Cheers,
