Morning,

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (9/1) is expected to trade between 6,100pt – 6,225pt likely to gain edge also by support of bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/30)  Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 39 points or 0.1% to 35,361pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed lower by 0.1% and 0.04%, respectively.

The JCI is expected to be impacted by the country’s August consumer price index  data, scheduled to be released, today. August CPI index is widely expected to be softer  to an estimate of 0.01% MoM (July: 0.08% MoM, 1.52% YoY).   Slightest sign of improving consumers’ purchasing confidence should be enough to hold the index, we view.

At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed lower by 0.8% to USD68.9/barrel , mainly on demand worries as Hurricane Ida shut most US refineries operation while at the same time pressure for OPEC to add some more bpd  for decision in its meeting today.  Meanwhile, the USDIDR  closed  at IDR14,306 vs. IDR14,374 the previous one.
