The United States of America (US) Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 1.6% in the first quarter of 2024 (1Q24), based on the advance estimate data released by the Bureau of .Economic Analysis (BEA).

The US GDP growth in the 1Q24 was slowing both from the previous quarter and the consensus expectation (in Chart 1). On an annual basis,  the GDP growth figure for the 1Q24 was decent as compared to the similar quarters since 2022 (in Chart 2).
