The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (8/27) is expected to trade between 5,960pt – 6,100pt likely to be volatile during a heightened short-term uncertainties. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/26) ย Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 192 points or 0.5% to 35,213pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed lower by 0.6%.
The JCI today is expected still be impacted by the widening bonds-yield differential between the US 10-year Treasury Notes ย which yesterday increased to 1.375% , while the Indonesian counterpart moved in the reverse direction by a meaningful 9bp.ย The higher yield-differential had also been reflected in the USDIDR value in the spot market which came to as high as IDR16,500 the previous day. It is expected that clues from the Federal Reserve to stabilize the dynamic of the domestic financial market as well.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed lower by 1% to USD67.7/barrel , as fresh outbreak of COVID-19 delta variant in the US and elsewhere create demand worries despite the most recent supply outage in Mexico that cut stocks by some 400k bpd. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,423 ย vs. IDR14,408 the previous one.
