ย The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (10/19) is expected to trade between 6,785pt โ 6,910pt to gain an edge with the support of bargain hunters.
ย The JCI is expected to move in a narrow range, as most traders are likely to be cautious of the countryโs central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) policyโs stance this month. BI starts its October Board-of-Governor meeting today and to announce the country’s monetary stance’s decision tomorrow.ย ย
Meanwhile, yesterday ย (10/18) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 338 points or 1.1% to 30,524pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed higher by 1.1% and 0.9%, respectively.
The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, was down 2 basis points at 3.99%. The yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasuryย fell almost 3 basis points to 4.429%. The 30-year Treasury yield was little changed near 4.011% after being up earlier in the day.
Yesterday, the price of ย WTI futures crude settled down 3.1%, at USD82.8/barrel, mainly on demand worries.ย China, the worldโs top crude oil importer, indefinitely delayed the release of economic indicators originally scheduled to be published yesterday suggesting unfavorable figures. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed atย IDR15,480 vs. IDR15,480 the previous one.
