The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (1/11) is expected to trade in the range of ย 7,150 – 7,300 points to attempt higher with the support of bargain hunters.

 

Meanwhile, yesterday (1/10) on Wall Street, the DJIA closed higher by 171 points or 0.42% to 37,695 points, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq Composite closed higher by 0.57% and by 0.75%, respectively.

Investors await the latest consumer price index report slated for release Thursday. Economists polled by Dow Jones expect the US CPI to rise 3.2% year over year in December (November: 3.1% YoY).

 

The yield of the 10-year ย US ย Treasury note was higher by about 2 basis points at 4.04%, while the yield on theย 2-year Treasury bond was lower by 1 basis point at 4.371%.

 

Yesterday, the WTI futures contract for February fell by 1.2% at USD71.4/barrel, mainly on demand concerns along with the release of US crude inventories figure for the week ended Jan 5 that showed an increase of 432.4mn barrels (vs. estimate of a drop of 700k barrels). ย  Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed at IDR15,568 vs. IDR15,518 the previous one.
