The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (8/19) is expected to trade between 6,025pt – 6,150pt likely to retreat while being supported by bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/18) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 383 points or 1.1% to 34,961pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed lower by 1.1% and 0.9%, ย respectively. MOM issued by the Fed yesterday have implied that tapering is approximately to start soon , or before the end of 2021. This gives mix signal in the latest development of COVID-19 pandemic situation in the US as well as in other countries and led to higher uncertainties, we reckon.
Central bank Bank Indonesia today (8/19) is expected to complete its monthly meeeting on the monetary policy guidelines ย with financial market participantsโ widely expect that current policy stance is maintained with the BI7D-RRR kept unchanged at 3.5%. The announcement is expected not to give major swing to the JCI.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed lower by 1.7% to USD65.5/barrel , mainly as the new COVID-19 delta variant spread in the US and in other countries intensified and is haunting demand prospect. ย ย ย ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,384 ย vs. IDR14,383 the previous one.
