The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (12/21) is expected to trade between 6,485pt – 6,600pt to stick around also on the back of bargain hunters. In addition, stable COVID-19 pandemic indicators in the country is expected to help support the domestic financial market.
Meanwhile, yesterday (12/20), Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 433pt or 1.2% to 34,932pt, and the S&P500 and the Nasdaq Composite also closed lower by 1.1% and 1.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, the US bond market saw some funds outflow with the yield of the reference 10-year Treasury note closed higher by a slight 2.6bp to 1.428% in the last close.
The JCI yesterday performed on the lower side of our estimated range and closed lower by 0.8% to 6,547pt. Total trading value at IDR11.5tr , was lower as compared to this year’s daily average of IDR13.5tr while total foreign funds amounted a net Buy of IDR543.8bn( a Sell of IDR387.1bn in the regular market). The Indonesian bond market recorded the yield of the benchmark 10-year SBN rose by 3bp. This means, overall, the Indonesia financial market is in sound condition despite a daily hiccup.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed lower by 3.8% to USD68.2/barrel, mainly on demand concern along with the higher cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 in major countries. Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed at IDR14,383 vs. IDR14,343 the previous one.
