The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (12/4) is expected to be in the range of 5,775pt โ 5,900pt, to fluctuate and also be supported by stable USDIDR close. ย Meanwhile, yesterday (12/3), the DJIA closed higher by 86 points or 0.3% to 29,970pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both ended lower by 0.06% and ย higher by 0.23%, respectively. ย The US economy ย is expected add 440k jobs, compared 638k in October, while the unemployment rate is estimated to decline to 6.7% YoY ย from 6.9% YoY.

During its annual meeting this year, held via streaming yesterday (12/3), BIโs chairman Perry Warjiyo announced 5 (five) strategies and 1 (one) required pre-condition to achieve the target economic growth range next year. ย In the last decade, the country economic has been crucially supported by monetary stimulus along with macro-prudential policies (point number 4 stated in the Excerpt on BI’s site), in our note. Next year around, this point again will play an important role. However, most importantly, point number 5 (five), economic and financial digitalization especially for small & medium enterprises, should make a historical difference of contribution to the national economy, if carried-out successfully.
All in all, with ย health protocol discipline and COVID-19 vaccination plan as the required pre-condition for the economic recovery, BI has disclosed optimism into the new year 2021, which stakeholders might take into consideration for investment in the country, for both the financial and real sectors.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed higher by 0.8% to USD45.6/barrel, as OPEC+ countries decided to cut production by 500bpd .ย This bring total production cut of OPEC+ member countries to 7.2mn bpd in Januari 2021, from 7.7mn bpd started in August this year, and from previous record-cut of 9.7mn bpd in May the same year. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closedย at IDR14.177 ย vs. IDR14.164 the previous one.
