The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (1/2) is expected to be in the range of 5,800pt โ 6,015pt to attempt higher, by support of bargain hunters. ย ย Meanwhile, Friday last week (1/29) ย the DJIA closed lower ย by 621 points or by 2.0% to 39,982pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both ended lower by 1.9% and 2.0% ย respectively. ย Stretched valuations in Wall Street have made stock indices vulnerable to any triggers to start a correction, including that of retail-pushed-shorted-stocksโ liquidation by major hedged funds, we agree.
By the latest 7-day average of 15.9% ย ( against the most recent range of 20โs% accros the country) of the Positivity Rates of new daily cases of COVID-19 in capital city Jakarta, stakeholders may expect buyings to gradually return to the Jakarta stock market. In addition, Januaryโs national CPI, widely estimated at an increase range of 0.34% – 0.36% mom ย (December 2020: 0.45% mom), is expected to prop-up support of the JCI, we note.
