The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (2/16) is expected to trade between 6,860ptโ€“7,000pt to attempt higher and supported by bargain hunters.

 

Today the JCI is expected to respond to the announcement of the central bank Bank Indonesia regarding the countryโ€™s latest monetary stance. Most economists in the survey conducted by CNBC Indonesia have expected the policy rate BI7DRR to be unchanged at 5.75%.

 

Yesterday (2/15) on Wall Street, the DJIA closed higher by 157 points or 0.1% to 34,089pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed higher by 0.3% and higher by 0.9%, respectively. Yesterday, Wall Street parred loss as the US retail sales for January recorded growth of 3% against December, after two months of consecutive decline.

The 10-year United States Treasury yield yesterday rose by 4 basis points at 3.79%, and the yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasury gained less than 1 basis point at ย 4.625%.

Yesterday, the price of WTI closed lower by 0.6% at USD78.6/ barrel, also on climbing USD Index following the strong January US retail sales data. The USDIDR closed atย  IDR15,194 vs. IDR15,168 the previous one.
