Morning,

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (1/18) is expected to trade between 6,720ptโ€“ 6,810pt to attempt higher supported by bargain hunters.

ย The JCI is expected to fluctuate in a narrow band also as the central bank Bank Indonesiaย kicks off its two-day Board-of-Governor meeting today. The majority of economists in a Survey conducted by CNBC Indonesia estimate the central bank to continue to increase the policy rate by 25 basis points in its January policy meeting.

Yesterday (1/17) on Wall Street, the DJIA closed lower by 392 points or 1.1% to 33,910pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.2% and higher by ย 0.1%, respectively. Shares of Goldman Sachs tumbled โ€”and dragged on the 30-stock index DJIA โ€” after the bank postedย an earnings miss.

The 10-year US Treasury yield yesterday closed almost unchanged at 3.513%, and the yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasury was trading lower by 6 basis points at 4.198%.

Yesterday, the price of WTI increased by 0.4% at USD80.2 / barrel, mainly asย Chinaย posted weak but in line with the consensus annual economic growth data. The USDIDR closed atย  IDR15,154 vs. IDR15,019 the previous one.

Cheers,
