Morning,

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (1/26) is expected to trade between 6,520pt – 6,620pt ย to attempt higher and ย be supported ย bargain hunters and annual higher commodity prices.

Factors to put pressure on the JCI today is higher yield-differential between the 10-year Indonesia government bond that closed lower by 2bp yesterday as compared to that of the US that closed higher by 5bp (1), and COVID-19 positivity rate especially in the Jakarta city increased to 11.2%, the highest this year (2).ย  Before the end of the month, around 20 (twenty) ย schools in the Jakarta city have temporarily closed the prevailing 100% capacity of face-to-face learning, as quoted from the media, as the number of infected students increased.

Meanwhile, yesterday (1/25), ย Wall Street ย ended with the DJIA closed lower by 67pt, or 0.2%, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq Composite both closed lower by 1.2% and 2.3%, respectively. Wall Street investorsย see the central bank noddingย toward the end of its asset purchases in the next month or two and anย outright rundown of the balance sheetย to start around midyear.

At the other end, yesterday ย the WTI price closed higher by 2.8% to USD85.6/barrel, ย mainly on intensified geopolitical risks in the middle of the sectorโ€™s supply incapacity to catch-up with the accelerating demand. ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,358 vs. IDR14,354 ย the previous one.

Cheers,
