The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/30) ย is expected to trade between 6,085pt to 6,250pt and to gain edge within the sideways, also supported by bargain hunters.
Meanwhile, yesterday ย (7/29) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 154 points or 0.4% to 35,085pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed higher by 0.4% and 0.1%, ย respectively. The US GDP rose at a 6.5% YoY in the 2Q21, by the first estimate of ย the Commerce Departmentโs release yesterday, or below the Dow Jones expectation of 8.4% YoY (1Q21: 6.3% YoY). This serves as good news for stock indices, also for the ย Jakarta market in a sense of smoother slope of possible tightening of the monetary policies in the medium term.
At the other end, yesterdayย the WTI price closed higher by 1.7% to USD73.6/barrel, mainly triggered by supply worries. Cushing, delivery point for the benchmark US oil futures contract, has had seven consecutive stockpile draws. ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,491 vs. IDR14,498 the previous one.
