The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/8) is expected to be in the range of 5,975pt โ 6,100pt ย ย likely to retreat within the sideways. Meanwhile, yesterday (7/7) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 104 points or 0.3% to 34,682pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq close higher by 0.3% by 0.01%, respectively.

The central bank Bank Indonesia (BI)ย has started to intensify digitalization implementation to stakeholders especially for the countryโs ย small businesses and previously non-bankable sector to bring domestic recovery pace to the optimum ย level, this year. This strategy should bode well with the nature of domestic consumers-related activities (please see Market Review dated July 8, 2020).
With the narration in the framework, BI has projected e-commerce transaction to increase by 33% YOY this year to reach IDR337tr. As quoted from the media yesterday , current QRIS (QR Code Indonesia Standard) nominal transactions latest data showed an increase of 120% to IDR3.4tr. Meanwhile, unit of merchants that have adopted the QR code reached 7.7mn as opposed to 1.2mn last year. This part of digitalization scheme, should help support the economy at current challenging time, we note.
At the other end, yesterdayย ย the WTI price closed, lower by 1.6% to USD72.2/barrel, mainly on fear of more supplies as OPEC+ members is scheduled to meet again this week, likely to further reduce current production curb. Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,500 vs. IDR14,468 the previous one.
