The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (19/6) is expected to continue the strength it showed on yesterday close (+68pt or +1% vs. previous close), mainly on latest tweet of the United States president Donald Trump. Trump tweeted yesterday that he would meet Chinaโs president Xi during the G-20 leaders meeting on June 28 in Japan, and team from both countries will conduct an extended meeting to finalize trade deal.ย The tweet had triggered buying spree in Wall Street yesterday with the DJIA gained by 353pt or 1.4% to 26,466pt and so was Nasdaq index to 7,954pt.
Similar positive sentiment also impacted world oil market with the WTI price close higher by 3.8% on yesterday trading to USD53.9/barrel.
The JCI is expected to be supported by USDIDR stable close at IDR14.334 vs. IDR14.346 on the previous day.ย On the other hand, Indonesia is still facingย risk of leadership change and thus risk of major economic policy turn-around, ย until around end of this month when the Constitutional Court decides on the 2019 presidential election lawsuit by candidate Prabowo-Sandi. This issue will somehow temporarily restrain the JCI rally, in our view.
We keep the following recommendations.
