The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (11/18) is expected to trade between 6,600pt – 6,725pt to ย hold support ย also on the back of ย bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (11/17) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 211pt ย or 0.6% to 35,931pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both ย ย closed lower by 0.3%. The US equity market yesterday was also supported by better-than-expected US homebuilding permit issuance that increases by 4% YoY in October.
The JCI today ย is expected to fluctuate to also factoring in worries on the resurgence of COVID-19 new cases in the country, by the latest data. In the capital city Jakarta positivity rates of new cases increased to the level of 0.6%-0.8% in the last 7(seven) days or a notch higher from record- low of 0.2%-0.4% in the previous weeks. Meanwhile, the central bank Bank Indonesia is widely-expected to continue the accomodative policies and keep the BI7DRR unchanged at 3.5% during the completion of monthly board-of-governors meeting today.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price ย closed lower by 3% ย to ย USD78.4/barrel , mainly on oversupply issue following the rise of COVID-19 cases in Europe. Also, news that the US has its mechanism to release its Strategic Petroleum Reserves to the market added to the sentiment. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,259 vs. IDR14,211 the previous one.
