The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (9/1) is expected to trade between 7,120pt โ€“7,230pt ย to attempt higher and is supported by bargain hunters. ย The JCI is expected to respond to the countryโ€™s Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August. The CPI ย is widely-estimated to decline by 0.1% – 0.13% on a monthly basis and to soften below Julyโ€™s level of 4.94% the annual basis.ย ย 

 

Meanwhile, yesterday (8/31) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 280 points or 0.9% to 31,510pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.8% and 0.6%, respectively.

ADPโ€™s monthly payroll report showed private payrolls grew by just 132,000 for August, compared to Julyโ€™s gain of 270,000. The Dow Jones estimate for the ADP count was 300,000.

On the other end, the yield on the benchmarkย 10-year Treasury noteย rose 7 basis points to 3.18% yesterday, and the 2-year Treasury yield increased 1 ย basis point to 3.48%, continuing to be in a ย yield-spread inversion trend.

 

Yesterday, ย the WTI price decreased by 1.0% to USD90.8/barrel, mainly on demand worries along with the news that Chinaโ€™s biggest cities from Shenzhen to Dalian are re-imposing lockdowns and business closures to curb Covid-19. Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed atย  IDR14,853 vs. IDR14,887 the previous one.
