The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (9/15) is expected to trade between 6,075pt – 6,200pt to ย stick around by support of ย bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday ย (9/14) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 292pt or 0.8% to 34,578pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.6% and by 0.5%,respectively. The release cooler-than-expected Augustโs CPI rates had shifted rotation from economic-recovery plays into those of technology counters. The softer US August inflation rates is another release, after the significantly-missed US payroll growth release on September 3, that gave jitter to the stock market.
The JCI ย today is expected to be supported by still an improved profile of COVID-19 new cases in the capital Jakarta city with the new-low positivity rates of 1.2% on September 13. Also an important support today is the release of Indonesia trade figuresat 11 AM, widely-estimated to register another net trade surplus of between USD2.3bn โ USD2.7bn (July: surplus of USD2.59bn). ย Global commodity price increase, including thermal coal ofย year-to-date (1221%), CPO (19%), and nickel (18%), have also benefitted the countryโs trade balance.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed unchanged at USD70.5/barrel , having gained by 1.1% in the previous close, mainly on signs of another storms in the US. ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,257 ย vs. IDR14,225 the previous one.
