Indonesia:  September Consumer Confidence Index

Stable at the Optimistic Level

Indonesia’s consumer confidence index (CCI or “Indeks Kepercayaan Konsumen”) for September, based on the survey conducted by the central bank Bank Indonesia pointed to a composite figure of 117.2  points (August: 124.7). On a quarterly basis for the third quarter this year (3Q23), an average of 123.5 (in Chart 1), the CCI was higher as compared to the last year’s average of 119.9 index points (pt). This implies that the country’s consumers’ confidence is intact.

Pillars embodied in the CCI, the Consumer Expectation Index, and the Current Economic Condition  Index (in Chart 2) posted a monthly narrow decline and had an insignificant impact on the change of the CCI in September.
