The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (12/30) is expected to trade between 6,820ptโ€“ 6,960pt to stay higher and be supported by bargain hunters.

The JCI is expected to be supported by another new low data (12/28) of the capital city Jakartaโ€™s COVID-19 new cases positivity rate since May 22 (corrected), at 4.7% (12/28/2021: 0.2%).

Today is the last trading day this year in the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and the new calendar of trading is to start on Monday (1/2) in 2023.

 

Yesterday (12/29), Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 345 points or 1.1% to 33,221pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed higher by 1.8% and 2.6%, respectively.ย First-time filings for unemployment benefits totaled 225,000 for the week ended Dec. 24, according to the US Labor Department,ย ย slightly above the 223,000 estimate from Dow Jones.

 

The 10-year US Treasury yield yesterday fell by 6 basis points at 3.826%, and the yield on the policy-sensitiveย 2-year Treasury closed almost unchanged at 4.357%.

 

Yesterday, the price of ย WTI crude settled 0.7% lower at USD78.4 a barrel, mainly on demand fear along with the news, again of re-surging COVID-19 cases in China, the worldโ€™s top oil importer. ย The USDIDR ย closed atย  IDR15,731 vs. IDR15,703 the previous one.
