Morning,

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/16) is expected to be in the range of 5,925pt – 6,050pt   likely to hover in the sideways and be supported by bargain hunters.  Meanwhile, yesterday (7/15) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 54 points or 0.2% to 34,987pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.3% and by 0.7%, respectively.

In response to the current urgent lock-down,  Indonesia Finance Minister Sri Mulyani revised down the country’s economic growth this year to 3.7% YoY – 4.5% YoY from previously 4.3% YoY – 5.3% YoY. Meanwhile, the central bank Bank Indonesia predicted lower growth of 3.8% YoY this year from the previously 4.1% YoY -5.1% YoY.

At present Indonesia sits on the highest rank of COVID-19 new cases in the world, with discouraging  views of hospitals both in the city and rural areas. At this stage, the complacent nature of the country’s general population should facilitate administrators to speed-up repair steps.

At the other end, yesterday  the WTI price closed lower by 2.0% to USD71.7/barrel, also on the increase US gasoline and diesel inventories despited a drop in refinery utilisation rates.   Meanwhile, last week the USDIDR  closed  at IDR14,503 vs. IDR14,493 the previous one.
