The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (7/19) is expected to be in the range of 6,000pt โ 6,100pt ย ย likely to retreat in the sideways and be supported by bargain hunters. ย Meanwhile, Friday last week (7/16) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 300 points or 0.9% to 34,688pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed lower by 0.8%.
The US data of consumer sentiment index for June indicated that consumers believed that prices will jump 4.8% over the next year, the steepest climb since August 2008. In addition, the US retail sales numbers for June rose by 0.6% YoY as compared to an estimated decline of 0.4% YoY.
Today the JCI is expected to be supported by the stable commodity price. Also, the latest reading of Positivity Rate (PR) of COVID-19 new cases in the capital city Jakarta. at 27% ย is meaningfully off its peak. ย At the other end, the government decides to extend urgent lockdown until end of July.
At the other end, last weekย ย the WTI price closed higher by 0.54% to USD72.01/barrel, as OPEC+ memmbers reached a ย deal on Sunday (7/18) to phase out 5.8 million barrels per day of oil production cuts by September 2022. ย Meanwhile, last week the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,517 vs. IDR14,503 the previous one.
