The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (8/12) is expected to trade between 6,000pt – 6,200pt and likely to gain edge while being supported by bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/11) Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed higher by 220 points or 0.6% to 35,485pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed higher by 0.3% and lower by 0.2%, ย respectively. ย The US ย Julyโs ย inflation detail reading, as quoted from the media, ย supported the Federal Reserveโs belief that high price pressures are โtransitoryโ as the economic recovers from the pandemic-triggered recession.
The JCI today is expected to be supported by the view that dovish monetary policies in the US and other leading countries to be in place for some time in the immediate future. Nevertheless, the noises from the COVID-19 current pandemic management in the country may add more to consumersโ and investorsโ hesitation to spend, we view.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed higher by 1.4% to USD69.3/barrel , also on the impact of the White Houseโs call to the OPEC+ member to further boost current level of production to catch-up with the increasing gas prices in the US (+46% YoY). Now, at the average of 11.2mn bpd production level , ย the US oil producers is seen as very slow to bring back output which during the pre-pandemic time was at above of 13mn bpd level. ย ย ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,397 ย vs. IDR14,378 the previous one.
