The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (1/13) is expected to trade between 6,610pt – 6,720pt and to hover mostly in the green also on the back of ย bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (1/12) the DJIA closed higher by 38pt or 0.1% to 36,290pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq Composite ย ย both closed higher by 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively. The US inflation rates last year, ย less food and energy index rose 5.5 % YoY, the largest February 1991. The energy index rose 29.3% YoY and the food index increased 6.3% YoY. ย The US bond market seemed to have factored-in the annual recovery ย during the first 3 (three) days this year.

 

The JCI todayย  is expected to be supported by commodity prices, with thermal coal closed at USD203/tonne (vs. record high of USD269/tonne in October last year), while upside maybe limited by higher demand of the fixed income products.

 

At the other end, yesterday ย the WTI price closed higher by 2.0% to USD82.8/barrel, ย mainlyon longer-term ย ย supply doubt, also as the ย EIA yesterday ย increased the estimate of demand growth for oil in the US this year to 840k bpd vs.an increase of 700k bpd previously. ย ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR closed ย at IDR14,302 ย vs. IDR14,299 ย the previous one.
