The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (2/22) is expected to be in the range of 6,150pt โ 6,300pt to incline for consolidation and being supported by bargain hunters.
Meanwhile, ย last week (2/19) in ย Wall Street the DJIA closed higher ย by 1 point or by 0.0% to 31,494pt, while S&P 500, and the Nasdaq closed lower by 0.2% and higher 0.1%, respectively. Mainly due to the optimism on the US economic recovery , amid support of the Fedโs possibly-prolonged expansive monetary stance, the yield on the countryโs benchmark bonds have been creeping-up.
The US 10-year Treasury yield jumped 14bp last week (February month-to-date: 25bp) to 1.34%, near its highest level since February 2020. The higher yield imply that the US companiesโ earnings need to keep-up to secure growths to justify current pricey valuations. COVID-19 pandemic management is of especially among the most important factors ย to monitor to estimate if the companies can do catching-up.
At the other end, Friday last week ย the WTI price closed lower by 1.0% to USD59.2/barrel as compared ย to the previous close as Texas energy firms in the US began to prepare for restarting oil and gas fields shuttered by freezing weather.
