The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (1/5) is expected to trade between 6,760pt– 6,900pt to attempt higher and be supported by bargain hunters.

Yesterday (1/4) in Wall Street, the DJIA closed higher by 133 points or 0.4% to 33,270pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq closed higher by 0.8% and 0.7%, respectively.

Apart from the latest Minute of Meeting, traders in Wall Street yesterday responded to mixed data of the US economy.  The ISM manufacturing index came in at 48.4 for December, down from 49 in November showing another contraction for the sector. Meanwhile, the US job opening data for November showed available positions at 10.46 million, slightly above a FactSet estimate of 10 million.

The 10-year US Treasury yield yesterday was down by more than 10 basis points at 3.692%, and the yield on the policy-sensitive 2-year Treasury closed lower by 5 basis points at 4.355%.

Yesterday, the price of  WTI crude fell by 5.3% to close at USD72.8 a barrel, mainly on fear of demand prospects along with the news of rising COVID-19 cases in China.  The USDIDR closed at  IDR15,615 vs. IDR15,590  the previous one.
