Off Historic Peak Trade Balance

Indonesia’s overall international trade figures last year were off its record high but at a significantly higher level compared to the pre-pandemic level (in Chart 1). Based on the data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia’s trade balance for the month of December posted a net surplus of USD3.31bn, bringing to a total of USD36.93bn for the year 2023 (in Chart 1).
