The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (4/20) is expected to be in the range of 5,975pt โ 6,150pt, ย to fluctuate and be supported by ย bargain hunters. ย Meanwhile, yesterday (4/19), the DJIA closed lower by ย 123points or 0.4% to 34,078pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq ended lower by 0.5% and 0.9%, respectively.
In general at present, the United States (US) economy is regarded to maintain its pace on strong economic recovery this year. This has been also confirmed by earnings release for the 1Q21 period, as well as latest US economic data.ย The latest of consumer counter Coca-Cola is quoted to state that demand in March has returned to the pre-pandemic level. Consensus is held that general improvements ย are not of seasonal in nature, we note.
Meanwhile, Indonesia central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) today is expected to announce its latest stance on the monetary stance.ย Consensus view is ย that BI would maintain current benchmark rate at 3.5%. Trending-up commodity prices, improving ย COVID-19 infection management, along with stable financial system frame, are at least 3 (three) points to support private and investments confidence in the country, and to provide strong buttress against capital flight, we note.
At the other end, last week the WTI price ended higher ย by ย 0.4% to USD63.4/barrel , also on news that largest oil importing and consuming country India reported record-rise in COVID 19 new cases and enters a new round of six-day lockdown.Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closedย at IDR14,568 vs. IDR14,592 the previous one.
