The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) today (8/31) is expected to trade between 6,100pt – 6,225pt likely to gain edge also by support of bargain hunters. Meanwhile, yesterday (8/30) ย Wall Street ended with the DJIA closed lower by 56 points or 0.2% to 35,400pt, while the S&P500 and the Nasdaq both closed higher by 0.4% and 0.9%, respectively.
Yesterday the JCI was trading as expected to close by a meaningful 1.7% higher while foreign funds recorded a net buy of IDR568bn. At present, the likely pace of monetary tightening in the US is perceived as moderate and thus less of a threaten to equity traders. In addition, domestic COVID-19 portrait, especially in the capital city Jakarta is encouraging while this too is on continous observes.ย Narrowing difference of the economic growth rates this year between Indonesia and other Advanced Economies is good for domestic stock market, we view.
At the other end, yesterday the WTI price closed higher by 0.6% to USD69.1/barrel , mainly on supplies worries as ย Hurricanes in the US were forcing shutdowns on US Gulf oil production. ย Meanwhile, the USDIDR ย closed ย at IDR14,374 vs. IDR14,431 the previous one.
